Could you tell us a little about being a winner in the StartupNation Leading Moms in Biz Competition?
Winning StartupNation's leading mom in business is a great honor. Last year we won 16th place and this year 4th.
Please tell us how you became an entrepreneur and how long you have been one.
I opened my business after I saw a need for great domestic agencies in Chicago. First Class Care came out of inspiration when I had my son Parker. I searched Chicago high and low for a great nanny agency. All I found were illegal agencies or agencies that had no idea how to work with a first time mom. When I started First Class Care I researched agencies all around the country and hired a consultant who had been in the business for over 20 years. She gave me the tools to get started. I was up and running in October of 2006 and was so successful in our first year that my husband sold his business (which he had for 20 years) and came to work for me!
What is your business called and what do you do?
First Class Care, Inc. We now have 2 locations in Northbrook and Chicago and a full staff to care for our candidates and clients 24/7. We place professional nannies, housekeepers, house managers, personal chefs and elder care companions.
