Interview with Sherry Lynn Simoes- Entrepreneur behind Women of Today
Full Name: Sherry Lynn Simoes
Please give us a little bit of a background on yourself and tell us how you became an entrepreneur.
In 2003 when I was pregnant with my son I decided I wanted to be a work-at-home mom so I left my job managing a print shop where I had been for 8 years. I started just doing graphics and quickly had a steady stream of clients.
What is your business called and what do you do?
I have 2 businesses – I work under my own name as a marketing coach, graphic designer as well as website and blog designer.
The second is Women of Today, a free Business Support Group for women entrepreneurs that I founded in 2005. We provide training, resources and coaching to help women grow a successful business.
How did you fund starting your own business?
I started mall with just a computer and printer. Back then that was quite a large expense so if you can believe it, I got a loan!
How many hours do you work in a week?
Too many! I try to keep to a 40 hour work week, but usually end up working a few more!
How would you rate your success?
I have been blessed with a steady stream of clients the whole time I have been in business and although there were some tough times, overall I am quite happy with my success but there are always new goals to meet.
What has been your biggest business challenge as an entrepreneur? How did you or do you overcome it?
That has to be bad debts. I like what I am doing so much I sometimes forget about the money end of things. After the last non-paying client 5 years ago, I guess you could say I learned a lesson. I am diligent now to make sure it is a priority and always ask for 50% down.
What advice would you give to a new entrepreneur?
I have lots but the most important is do not be afraid to ask for help if you need it and find a good coach to help you through the stages of growth. Even coaches have coaches!

If you want to succeed set goals, be accountable and network professionally!
