Search Engine Optimization SEO Importance and Tutorial

I often have social media marketing (SMM)  clients that enlist my services for social media marketing and I discover they desperately need help with Search Engine Optimization (SEO).  I can't stress the importance of SEO enough! 

While SMM is important for creating keyword links, SEO is basic for letting the search engines in on what your site is and what it is about. Meta tags are critical!!  If your title, description, and keywords are not in existence or filled out without using your key search words, you are not going to get the search engine traffic you want and need.

Here is a Search Engine Optimization Tutorial I did for one customer.  You can apply it to your own site and let me know if you have questions.  You do need basic HTML skills for this.

I wanted to send you some tips and pointers.  This is all SEO/ SMM stuff that is REALLY IMPORTANT.

1.  http://www.alexa.com is a great source for learning about at site
There is almost no data on your site here.  I suggest you register as the site owner and put in your description. (loaded with the keywords that people will search for.)  A lot of search engines actually use your site description at alexa when they pull up your site and right now, you don't have one.

2.  Page Rank
Not sure how much you know about page rank.  Page rank show how highly google ranks you and therefore how likely it is to pull your site up for searches.
I checked you google page rank for your site http://www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.phpand it is currently a zero
So there are many things that influence this.  One of the most important is have keyword links to your site.  You now have  keyword links from both my sites so this should help you when it reranks (which is usually done about about every 3 months with the next ranking expected in October).  The more quality links you get the better though.  You have one from Twitter which is great.

Time intensive but worth it!

3.  Page Rank is also affected by your site html.
Your <title> shows up in a search as

Ebay Products, Iron On Applique, Earrings, Charms, Jewellery …This is not bad but I think it could be even better.  I don't think this is where you want to have your driving key words and repeated in a way that makes sense is ideal.  For instance 

Kids Applique, Jewelry and Stickers | Childrens Jewellery Appliques, and Stickers
This includes the various forms of what people may search for (spelling, plural, singular, and word choice)

Your <description> is
Lylas is an Australian online ebay product store selling items such as iron on applique, earrings, charms, jewellery and more.
Again not bad but I suggest trying to use around 160 characters so you can flesh that out a little using the same pointers I gave you for the title. 
Lylas offers reasonably priced kids appliques, childrens jewelry, and kids stickers.  The applique is iron on and easy to use.  The stickers, necklace charms and earrings are available with adorable children's cartoon characters.  Low shipping rates!

This could be improved along the same lines,
iron on appliques, kids applique, charm necklaces, kids earrings, kids stickers, cartoon character
appliques,  cartoon characters jewelry, childrens jewellry

Finally, after this the search engines look at your first bit of wording to see what your site is about.

While that is good I wood ad a bit about what you carry in their.  This is for the 
customer while all the other I just listed was for search engines.  


If you want to see what I mean by all this in practice rather than just theory,
search google for what you consider your most important keyword
I assume "iron appliques"

4.  Install Google Analytics.  It is free and will let you know where your traffic 
comes from so you can increase the right types of things.

All this takes work but yields big results!
